Jim Garlow, SNU alumnus, author and communicator named as Chairman of Renewing American Leadership

     Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich has recently named Southern Nazarene University’s alumnus, Dr. Jim Garlow as Chairman of Renewing American Leadership (ReAL), a non-profit organization that Gingrich created and is based in Washington, DC. 

For the last 14 years, Dr. Garlow has served as Senior Pastor of Skyline Wesleyan Church in San Diego, CA and will continue to do so. He is an author, communicator, commentator, historian, and cultural observer. Garlow is heard daily on over 800 radio outlets nationwide in his one-minute historical commentary called “The Garlow Perspective.” In addition he airs a 30-minute broadcast called “The Garlow Perspective Special.” 

Garlow has done over 750 radio, TV and print interviews – national and local – covering a wide range of topics: historical, theological, marriage and family issues and cultural trends. 

Dr. Garlow has authored eleven books including the New York Times best seller Cracking Da Vinci’s Code (co-authored with Peter Jones), selling nearly 450,000 copies. Jim has appeared on numerous national TV shows on NBC, CNN, Fox, NSNBC and CNBC. 

He graduated from Drew University (Ph.D. in historical theology), Princeton Theological Seminary (Master of Theology), Asbury Theological Seminary (Master of Divinity), Southern Nazarene University (B.A. & M.A.), Oklahoma Wesleyan University (A.A.). 

As a chairman of ReAL, Dr. Garlow’s particular role will be to be the “face” of ReAL in media, such as Fox News, CNN, etc., write op-eds and author books, speak on the topics related to ReAL’s goals, and activate pastors and Christian leaders to challenge their congregations and respective constituencies to fully understand the moral and biblical underpinnings to the freedoms we enjoy.
