BETHANY, OK (July 9th, 2013) – With the unanimous affirmation by the Board of Trustees, Dr. Melany Kyzer has been named the new Chief Academic Officer at Southern Nazarene University.

Dr. Kyzer is a 28-year member of the SNU campus community. Since 2011 she has served as the Dean of the College of Humanities in addition to teaching in the Speech Communication department since 1998. Those positions include: the Director of Housing, the Director of Academic Services, Director of Community Life and Resident Director.

"For nearly three decades, Dr. Melany Kyzer has been a vital part of this educational community. She embodies the heart and soul of the institution, and will contribute in a major way to the next chapter of the university. Her coming to a new role will be one of the most seamless and easy transitions of any major administrative change we have made in recent times. I wish her every success in this next phase of her service to Southern Nazarene University," said Dr. Loren Gresham, University President.

Her influence is not limited to the walls of SNU. Kyzer is a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association, the National Communication Association and Bethany First Church of the Nazarene. She is also currently the Executive Director for the Oklahoma Speech Theatre & Communication Association. Kyzer is a graduate of Southern Nazarene University (BS ‘84, MA ‘88). She later went on to receive her Juris Doctor from Oklahoma City University in 2008.
