Costs for Commission Unto Mexico

The cost for the 2013-2014 Commission Unto Mexico trip will be $599 from Eagle Pass. That money pays for:

  • All your meals in Mexico
  • Your hotel room
  • Daily transportation in Coahuila from the hotel to the job site and back
  • Your transportation from the border to Coahuila and back
  • Accident insurance
  • All the purified water you can drink
  • Some of the construction materials and medical supplies we will use
  • Costs to set up and administer the trip

Transportation to Eagle Pass or San Antonio?

Getting to Eagle Pass, TX from your home is in addition to the cost of the trip. If there is enough interest, a bus will be chartered from Oklahoma City. The cost for round-trip seats on the chartered bus will be $139 plus cost of one night in a hotel in Eagle Pass.

Contact Dr. Howard Culbertson (mexico@snu.edu) if you are interested in car-pooling or in a seat on an SNU van.

**If you are driving you must meet at the Leadership Training Center at 264 N Brazos St, Eagle Pass, TX 78852. If you are flying, still plan on flying into San Antonio, TX and you will be shuttled to Eagle Pass!**

Private room?

Our per-person price is based on having 4 people to a room (where there are 2 double beds). Of your $599 trip costs, about $105 goes to pay the hotel bill. So, if you want your own bed, you'll need to pay $105 extra. If you want to be in a room all by yourself, you'll need to pay for those three empty places at $105 each (or a total of $315).

Married couples do, however, get their own room at no extra cost.

Discounts?

  • Early Bird Discount =If you register by June 30th we will give you an extra $25 off the cost of the trip! Regardless of any other discounts you are eligible for, if we receive your registration and $25 registration fee by June 30th, we will give you a $25 discount.
  • Families = Entire families often go on our short-term mission trip which we call "Commission Unto Mexico." To encourage families to go together one spouse may go for $499 when the other spouse pays in full. As well, a teenager going with one or both parents can go for $499. Children 12 and under accompanied by their parents pay $435.
  • Pastors = We partner with districts to provide scholarshipping for pastors. If a district will pay $150 to help a pastor, we will scholarship another $150 of the amount. This makes a 3-way match in which the pastor winds up having to pay only about 1/3 of the cost. [ go to pastor's discount form].
  • SNU students = SNU's Spiritual Development office offers some limited scholarships for students. Contact Spiritual Development for further details.[ go to SNU student scholarship form ]

Want your own bed? Do our "reverse" discount
Our cost is based on 4 people to a room (in which there are 2 double beds). If you wish to have your own bed, the extra charge will be $105. If you want to be in a room all by yourself, you'll need to pay for those three empty places at $105 each (or a total of $315).

Note: Married couples are given their own separate room without having to pay extra.

Final note: Pray for funding
Whenever we give someone a discount, it means we're getting less from that person for our construction materials/medical supplies fund. So, we do ask participants -- and particularly those who benefit from discounts -- to join us in fervent, intercessory prayer that God will provide the needed construction materials and medical supplies.

Application fee?

We ask that people send in at least $25 with their application. That assures us they are serious. We've found in the past that people who haven't paid anything will decide not to come and do not bother with telling us. In the meantime we have assigned them a room and arranged for meals for them and transportation in Mexico. Please help us know that you are serious by sending in at least $25. This is not a fee in addition to the $599; it will be applied toward your trip cost. Apply here!

Freewill offerings needed

In addition to what each participant pays, we need some additional money for construction materials and medical supplies. Help us pray in that additional $10,000 to $15,000.

"Strengthening Experience"

"For me the two big words for Commission unto Mexico are STRENGTHENING AND ENCOURAGING. The churches in Mexico were strengthened b your presence there. We received encouragement from their faith."
