BETHANY, OK (August 20, 2012) - The campus of Southern Nazarene University became more global in early August, as it played host to a retreat of “Missionary Kids” whose families serve in Nazarene mission areas around the world.
Designed as a time to connect and share about the unique blessings and challenges of being part of a missionary family, the schedule included opportunities for worship, led by Mid-America Nazarene University chaplain Dr. Randy Beckum, and care sessions led by Dr. Norm Henry.
The SNU Admissions Team provided a souvenir SNU tee shirt and Dr. Terry Toler, vice president for University Advancement and Church Relations, got better acquainted with the MK’s at a luncheon sponsored by SNU Church Relations at a local Mexican restaurant.
In his welcome to the group, SNU President, Dr. Loren Gresham, said, “We at SNU are proud to be part of the Church of the Nazarene, and our emphasis on service to others, both here and around the world, often involves student mission trips to places where, perhaps, your family serves.” He added, “We hope you feel this common bond, and know that our Nazarene missionary families are loved and respected by this community of faith.”
Southern Nazarene University's mission is to transform lives through higher education in Christ-centered community. As a Christian community of scholars, we model the hospitality of grace, the pursuit of truth and the practice of discipleship, all within the Wesleyan-holiness tradition, as we prepare graduates who THINK with clarity, ACT with integrity and SERVE with purpose.
