New D.S. elected in Southwest Indiana

The Board of General Superintendents announces the election of Garry D. Pate ('68) to the office of district superintendent of the Southwest Indiana District. With General Superintendent Jerry D. Porter presiding, Pate was elected on the fourth ballot on July 21, to be effective 30 days after the election.

Pate currently serves as the lead pastor of Christ's Community Church of the Nazarene in New Albany, Indiana. He has served in this position since 1980. Pate also is the district Sunday School & Discipleship Ministries International (SDMI) chair for Southwest Indiana. In addition, he is an executive board member for Olivet Nazarene University and has served on numerous local city and charity councils.

Pate previously served as pastor at the Benton, Illinois, First (1972-1976) and Alton, Illinois, Hillcrest (1976-1980) Churches of the Nazarene.

He is a graduate of what is now Southern Nazarene University (bachelor of arts, master of arts), Nazarene Theological Seminary (master of divinity), and Drew University (doctor of ministry).

Pate and his wife, Carolyn ('69), currently reside in Sellersburg, Indiana.
