BETHANY, OK (August 18, 2012) - Southern Nazarene University faculty and staff welcome the return of the SNU students for the Fall 2012 semester.
New Student Institute (NSI) begins today and is a required orientation program to welcome incoming students and their parents. NSI aims to help students feel more comfortable in the college setting and learn information that is vital to success at Southern Nazarene University.
“Our hope is that, through NSI, all new students immediately get connected with a small group of their peers, a faculty/staff mentor, and gain a sense of who and what SNU is about,” said Misty Jaggers, Director, New Student Institute.
Students and parents will attend various seminars throughout the weekend with topics ranging from Classroom Survival to Student Life. This year, additional parent sessions have been added to better acclimate them to the campus.
“While many of the core elements/traditions of NSI are the same, we did a major schedule re-vamp with the addition of Friday to the program. We believe that it is not only our responsibility to orient students to this place, but we also want to orient their parents and families,” said Jaggers.
Official registration for all returning students begins August 21, 2012, with classes beginning on Wednesday, August 22, 2012. Registration takes place in the Webster Commons Heritage Room, Tuesday, August 21, and Wednesday, August 22, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Southern Nazarene University's mission is to transform lives through higher education in Christ-centered community. As a Christian community of scholars, we model the hospitality of grace, the pursuit of truth and the practice of discipleship, all within the Wesleyan-holiness tradition, as we prepare graduates who THINK with clarity, ACT with integrity and SERVE with purpose.
