Phi Delta Lambda

Welcome to the SNU Phi Delta Lambda Web Site!

Phi Delta Lambda is an international honor society for graduates of Nazarene Colleges and Universities who have excelled in scholarship. The name stands for Love of Wisdom, Righteousness, and Service. The purpose of this society, as stated in the constitution, is the promotion of scholarship and friendly relations among students and graduates of the Colleges and Universities of the Church of the Nazarene and the stimulation and maintenance of high ideals of learning, character, and Christian service.

Phi Delta Lambda was founded in 1940 when a committee especially appointed to consider the organization of a National Honor Society met in Oklahoma City at the time of the 1940 General Assembly.

Phi Delta Lambda is composed of eight different affiliate chapters. One of these is the Southern Nazarene University Epsilon Chapter.

Students who have been inducted into this organization have attained the high academic standard set by Phi Delta Lambda for membership, and they have also been elected to the organization by the faculty of their University. They are worthy to be recognized both by our University and by our Epsilon Chapter for their notable achievement in scholarship. Our hope is that our members will continue to achieve, as they pursue the spiritual goals of Phi Delta Lambda: walking in wisdom, being led in paths of righteousness, and doing service as unto the Lord.

Sincerely,

Gwen Hackler, Ph.D.
