Division of Science & Mathematics

The Division of Sciences and Mathematics consists of the Departments of Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science & Network Engineering, Mathematics, and Physics. Each department offers a B.S. degree with various options of joint majors, minors and concentrations. Many of our students have Division scholarships as well as academic and sports scholarships.  We have unique strengths in our:

  • Pre-med program which has a 90% plus admittance rate into medical schools over its 50 year history.
  • Full academic partners and networking certification with both Microsoft and Novell.
  • Science education program for teaching high school biology, chemistry and/or physics

The Division of Sciences and Mathematics has strong alumni support through the Catalysts which contribute financially to support scholarships and faculty-mentored student research projects.

We are currently gearing up for the Science Scholars Weekend on January 27-29, 2012.  If you are high school senior with an ACT score (or SAT equivalent) of 24 or higher, feel free to apply!

SNU Summer Research Program

New Science Facility

Excellence in Science is a hallmark of Southern Nazarene University.  Across the years over 3,000 teachers, medical doctors, dentists, researchers, nurses and professors have graduated from SNU's science programs.  While the faculty of the Division of Science and Mathematics at SNU excel in teaching and are exceptionally qualified in their respective disciplines, with 91% having earned the terminal degree in their field, the W.  Don Beaver Science Building, that has served the purposes of Science eduction for forty years is no longer adequate.  SNU is working to construct a new 25,891 square feet facility that will house teaching labs, faculty and teaching research labs, classrooms and support space.
