Software Development Prerequisites

The prerequisite requirement for admission into the Software Development program is to demonstrate a general working knowledge of programming. This can be met in one of the following ways:

  • Java Certification
  • 2-year programming degree
  • Successfully complete the entrance test

If the student is not Java Certified, does not have a 2-year programming degree, or does not successfully complete the entrance test, then a beginning programming course and/or the Software Development workshop must be taken.

If needed, the entrance test will be given after the application has been received. There is no cost involved in taking the entrance test. If this test is successfully completed within the timeframe allowed, the applicant is accepted into the program.

The workshop will be held one night per week from 6pm-10pm for five weeks. It will begin approximately six weeks prior to each group start date. There is no cost for taking the workshop. Students must successfully pass the workshop in order to be admitted into the Software Development program.
