SNU Library's Circulation and Interlibrary Loan Coordinator, Kathryn Hankins, chosen for IMLS Cohort

BETHANY, OK --- Southern Nazarene University (SNU) has partnered with nine Oklahoma academic libraries for Partnering to Build a 21st Century Community of Oklahoma Academic Librarians in a program to recruit and educate 15 new academic librarians. SNU Library’s Circulation and Interlibrary Loan Coordinator, Kathryn Hankins, has been chosen for the first cohort towards the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS).

Kathryn was competitively selected and will work with the 14 others selected to fill leadership roles in providing services to underserved and minority groups across Oklahoma.

All recruits will be awarded IMLS-funded scholarships to earn a master’s degree in librarianship through the Oklahoma University School of Library and Information Studies (OU SLIS) Master of Library and Information Studies online and face-to-face groups.

“This Project offers an excellent opportunity for people interested in becoming academic librarians to get their master’s degree with all expenses paid. We are pleased that one of our graduates and staff members has been awarded this scholarship,” said SNU Library Director, Dr. Arlita Harris.

Inquiries about the project can be directed to Dr. Arlita Harris, Director of the SNU Library by emailing or by calling 405-491-6351.
