BETHANY, Okla. (January 21, 2011) – Southern Nazarene University School for Children was awarded with the 2010 Memorial Kids Marathon Challenge Cup. Kevin Ogle, News Channel 4, along with officials from the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon were on campus to present the award. The Challenge Cup is awarded to the school with the highest percentage of participation in the Kids Memorial Marathon.
The SNU SFC received The Oklahoman Memorial Kids Marathon Challenge Cup trophy and $500 for their physical education department. Students logged 25 miles on his or her running log by having a parent or teacher document each mile run. On the day of the Marathon, the students ran the final 1.2 miles on a special course that took them through the streets of Oklahoma City.
The SNU SFC won with 65% participation from their student body. The school also won this trophy in 2007.
