BETHANY, OK --- Naylor Construction of Dallas, TX will begin installing a construction fence on the Bethany campus of Southern Nazarene University on Wednesday, September 30, 2009. This preparation is in advance of the planned demolition of Garey Hall, and the construction of a new student housing facility.
“The parking lot south of Garey Hall and a row of parking to the north of Garey will be blocked off until at least March 2010,” said Donna Nance, Vice President for Financial Affairs.
Parking is still available on both sides of Hatley Hall and on the north side of the Sawyer Athletic / Convocation Center. Contingency plans for special event parking is still being developed.
Plans for a Garey Hall remembrance event are under way and will be announced at a later date.
“A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for 4:30 pm on Friday, November 6, 2009, during the SNU Board of Trustees meeting” said Dr. Loren Gresham, President.
