The Vision of the Ziglar Legacy

Now the time has come to broaden the reach and scope of Zig Ziglar’s message and influence. Zig has a big dream-to create a place where leaders are identified, nurtured and trained. He seeks to establish a place where both the attributes and the ethics of leadership are taught, where success is measured in service, where those who aspire to lead will learn a vocabulary of leadership far different from the language of moral relativism and ethical convenience.

Zig wants to create a learning environment where people learn to lead their families, their businesses, their churches, their organizations, with a set of qualities and values that have stood the test of time. He dreams of a place where college freshmen, graduate students, business executives and civic servants all gather together to learn and apply the fundamental principles of ethical leadership. From such a place, Zig Ziglar sees hundreds and thousands of people going out to live better lives, inspire others and change the course and character of a nation.

In order to make this vision real, Zig Ziglar has looked for an institution that shares his passion for creating high quality, ethical leaders. He found that in Southern Nazarene University. In this meeting of hearts and minds, Zig Ziglar and Southern Nazarene University have come together to establish a partnership, an educational partnership. In so doing Zig and Southern Nazarene University are creating a new forum and format for expanding Zig’s message. In working with Southern Nazarene University, Zig has identified a university where God is at the core of the curriculum, a place receptive to the heart of Zig’s message because the same message is embedded in the university’s core values, a place in America’s heartland. Together, they are establishing the Zig Ziglar Center for Ethical Leadership at Southern Nazarene University.

At the Zig Ziglar Center for Ethical Leadership at Southern Nazarene University Zig’s powerful principles will be preserved in the lives of leaders and students who will help change the world. The Center’s mission statement reads: The mission of the Zig Ziglar Center for Ethical Leadership at Southern Nazarene University is to promote leadership development, character formation, ethical business practice and positive, faith-based life skills.

The connection of Ziglar Training Systems (ZTS) with Southern Nazarene University creates an educational synergy that will have a long-term transforming affect. Ziglar Training Systems seeks to be the difference maker in the personal, family, business and spiritual lives of enough people to make a positive difference in the world. Southern Nazarene University seeks to educate students for responsible Christian living-building character, shaping culture and serving Christ. Together, each organization is better, stronger and will have a greater impact than either can have alone.

Over time the Zig Ziglar Center for Ethical Leadership at Southern Nazarene University will:

• Become the national standard for principles and training in ethical leadership
• Become a national authority on the research, measurement and implementation of ethical practices in all facets of life-personal, professional, social
• Become a national center for ethical leadership resources and assessment for businesses and not-for- profit organizations
