The Thunderbird soldiers of the 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (IBCT) will begin arriving home to a heroes welcome on the campus of Southern Nazarene University (SNU). More than 2,600 troops will return to ceremonies scheduled in the SNU Sawyer Center, over the next week, beginning with the first ceremonies on Sunday, October 12 at approximately 1:00 pm and approximately 7:30 pm.
"We consider it a privilege to serve as host for the homecoming of these soldiers who, when called, responded with their best on our behalf,” said Dr. Loren Gresham, President of Southern Nazarene University.
In addition to welcoming all the troops and their families to the SNU campus for reunions of joy and relief, SNU will be welcoming home some of our own alumni who are a part of the 45th Brigade.
The 45th Brigade has been divided into groups of 200-300 personnel to be welcomed home at each separate ceremony. More specific ceremony dates and times will be released, as information is made available. All ceremonies are open to the public as we extend our gratitude to the troops and their families for their service, and our thankfulness for their safe return home. Doors will open two hours prior to each ceremony.
