Phi Beta Lambda

Phi Beta Lambda is a national organization of colleges and universities from some 700 campuses throughout the United States and Puerto Rico with about 18,000 members. There are some 30 chapters in the state of Oklahoma with over 600 members at the state universities and colleges. PBL is a student association designed to help members bridge the gap between classroom and boardroom, through support of local chapter activities, state and national leadership conferences, state and national academic competition and organizational programs fostering professional business development. The organization motto: “Education – Service- Progress”

The SNU chapter, Zeta Lambda, was organized in 1958 under the direction of Dr. Stan Parry. The development and growth of PBL occurred under the direction of Dr. Elmer Shellenberger, who instituted the first state and national academic competition participation. The first national winner (1st place in the nation) was in the Mr. Future Business Executive competition, won by David McClung in 1964.
