Southern Nazarene University alumnus Ron Jessee (’74) has been named the California Art Education Association’s 2011 Administrator of the Year.
Jessee, who has worked at the County Office of Education since 2001, has previously been named Administrator of the Year by the California Music Educators Association (2005), and the California Educational Theatre Association (2009). In addition, he received the La Jolla Playhouse Pelican Award for advancement of Theatre Education.
As Visual and Performing Arts Coordinator at the County Office of Education Jessee works with schools and school districts throughout the county to help them integrate the arts into daily classroom instruction. He also created a series of teacher workshops, the Visual and Performing Arts Standards 101-103 Workshops that are used throughout the state and widely considered a model for teacher training in the arts.
Southern Nazarene University's mission is to transform lives through higher education in Christ-centered community. As a Christian community of scholars, we model the hospitality of grace, the pursuit of truth and the practice of discipleship, all within the Wesleyan-holiness tradition, as we prepare graduates who THINK with clarity, ACT with integrity and SERVE with purpose.
