SNU Commencement in Review

Bethany, OKLA. (May 16, 2011) – Southern Nazarene University celebrated its 108th Commencement Saturday, May 14, with approximately 405 graduates.

“This past weekend was a time of celebration and decision for the students who departed our campus with their graduation, amidst the ceremonies of Commencement exercises, Ivy Ring, Capping and Pinning, stole presentation and other activities related to the event,”said Loren Gresham, Ph.D., President of Southern Nazarene University.

The commencement address was delivered by Congressman James Lankford. During his speech Lankford stated “When you wake up in the morning and make Jesus Christ your primary goal, you will be astounded at the center balance in your life.” He also challenged graduates to build better families for the future. “The families that you believe you will be a part of will make the difference.”

Two students, Kyle Boen and Christy Swank, were awarded The President’s Award. This honor is the highest award at SNU for traditional undergraduate students. Recipients of this award are nominated based on academic excellence, service, campus leadership and a demonstration of the qualities reflected in SNU’s motto, “Character, Culture, Christ.”
