SNU Enrollment Numbers released for Fall 2009

SNU Enrollment Numbers released for Fall 2009

Southern Nazarene University (SNU) is pleased to announce updated enrollment figures for the Fall 2009 semester.  President Loren Gresham highlighted the encouraging statistics during an all-campus meeting of faculty and staff a few days ago.

SNU total enrollment for the fall semester is 2,110 students, an increase of 41 over fall 2008 enrollment.

Students studying in a program of the Professional & Graduate Studies area comprise 950 individuals within the total student population.  This is the largest number of students from Professional & Graduate Studies ever reported in the SNU official fall enrollment.

Perhaps most significantly in the fall 2009 enrollment figures is the fact that the actual number of new first-time freshmen is up.  New freshmen number 281 this semester, compared to 270 in the fall of 2008.  College admissions test scores for these entering freshmen are also among the highest on record for SNU.

“The average freshman ACT score is a 22.6 this year.  According to our records, this is the highest composite average for incoming freshmen at SNU for at least the past 11 years” said Mike Redwine, Vice President for Enrollment Management.

Historically, the SNU student population has come from Oklahoma and surrounding states like Texas and Arkansas.  But students from other parts of the country and even from other nations are increasingly choosing to attend SNU, and these numbers are on the rise.

“This year’s student body hails from a total of 37 states and 44 countries of the world” reported Dr. Charles Chitwood, Registrar.
