In January 2011 Southern Nazarene University opened the new A.M. Hills Residential Complex, which recently became certified for LEED Silver Certification.
LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is an internationally-recognized green building certification system. Developed by theU.S. Green Building Council (USGBC)in March 2000, LEED provides building owners and operators with a framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions.
A.M. Hills is the first and the only residence hall in the state of Oklahoma to receive LEED Silver Certification.
"From the start of planning the A.M. Hills Residence Complex we were aiming at achieving LEED certification. The notification that we have achieved this 'green' recognition is evidence that the efforts of our key planners have been rewarded. We are proud to be one of few, if any, Oklahoma residence facilities who have spent the extra time and resources to have a LEED certified complex," said SNU President Dr. Loren Gresham.
Southern Nazarene University's mission is to transform lives through higher education in Christ-centered community. As a Christian community of scholars, we model the hospitality of grace, the pursuit of truth and the practice of discipleship, all within the Wesleyan-holiness tradition, as we prepare graduates who THINK with clarity, ACT with integrity and SERVE with purpose.
