Western

The SNU Western Equestrian Team...  competes in pleasure and reining classes.  In the pleasure classes, riders demonstrate each gate on the rail, and are then asked to execute a pattern to show their control of the horse.

Practice...
typically takes place on Friday afternoons during the show season.  Riders are encouraged to spend time riding outside of practice, and instruction is nearly always available to hard working competitors.  Practice begins with a warm-up on the rail, and ends with pattern excecution.  Reiners work advanced reining patterns after the arena clears.

Clothing Includes...   traditional western clothing, a western hat, and chaps.  SNU Western riders compete against schools such as WTAMU, Texas Tech, NCTC, RCC, and OU.
