Q: I have completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Is this all I need to have completed for my financial aid?
A: In addition to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), there are two forms that need to be completed for your SNU Professional Studies financial aid assistance process. Go to www.studentloans.gov and complete the Entrance Counseling and Master Promissory Note.

Q: Are there any scholarships available for the accelerated adult programs?
 A:

Q: How can I find out what I qualify for at Southern Nazarene University from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)? A: Once you have completed the FAFSA application process, then our SNU financial aid office will send you a financial aid award letter.

Q: Is the total Southern Nazarene University tuition cost due upfront?
 A:
No, you can make three semester payments, or you can make monthly payments for a one-time $50 carrying charge. 

Q: When I complete the Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), will this cover the whole SNU degree completion program?
 A
: All of the SNU degree completion programs are three semesters long; therefore, you will complete FAFSA’s for two different financial aid years.

 A:
Yes, the SNU School of Professional Studies accepts transfer credit hours from any military branch: DD214, JST, AARTS, SMART and CCAF.

Q: Can I start in the SNU Bridge program with less than 12 transferable college credit hours?
 A:
No, you must have at least 12 transferable college credit hours to start in the SNU Bridge program.

Q: I have 75 college credit hours from a two-year institution. Will all of these credits transfer to Southern Nazarene University?
 A:
SNU can accept a maximum of 62 college transfer credits from a two-year institution.

Q: What is considered an official transcript by Southern Nazarene University?
 A:
An official transcript must be provided to SNU in a sealed envelope. You can pick up the requested transcript from the school as long as they put it in a sealed envelope, or they can mail it directly to us. We also accept electronic transcripts sent from the institution to pgs@snu.edu.

Q: What does Southern Nazarene University mean by transferable hours?
 A:
All credit hours are transferable when they come from a regionally accredited institution with the exception of zero level courses.

Most zero level courses have a course number that begins with a zero or offers no credit for the class.

 Training and Experience Application to Degree Completion

Q: Do I have to have all 45 General Education and 43 Elective credits completed before I can start in one of SNU School of Professional Studies degree completion programs?
 A:
No, you need 60 transferable college credit hours and any prerequisites required for your Professional Studies program of choice. Your general education and electives must be completed in order to graduate.

 Q: I don’t have 60 transferable college credits to start in one of the SNU School of Professional Studies degree completion programs. Can I use training and experience to cover the hours I am lacking?
 A:
You must have 60 transferable college credits before training and experience can be utilized. If you are returning to school after an absence, you may want to also consider utilizing Southern Nazarene University’s Bridge program. The Bridge program helps working adults get from a limited number of college credits to a point where completing a degree is an achievable goal.

30 credit hours is the maximum allowed by SNU School of Professional Studies.

 A:
It will depend on which of the degree completion programs you have selected. Some have additional pre-requisites beside 60 transferable credits.

Q: What if I don’t have 60 transferable college credit hours for SNU admission? Do I have to go to another institution to earn 60 credit hours?
 A:
No, SNU offers our Bridge program that allows students with at least 12 transferable college credit hours the opportunity to reach their 60 college credit hours in the same one-night-a-week format as our degree completion programs.

 A:
No, you don’t need an associate’s degree for admission. You just need 60 transferable college credit hours in order to start in one of the degree completion programs at SNU School of Professional Studies.

Q: Will my SNU School of Professional Studies degree completion classes always meet on the same night of the week?
 A:
In the SNU degree completion programs, you will always meet on the same night of the week that you started. Each five week Bridge class will meet on the same night of the week.

Q: What if I have an emergency and have to miss class at SNU? Will that affect my grade?
 
A: If one absence occurs during a module, the student is responsible to work with the instructor for makeup work. If two SNU classes are missed, the class must be retaken.

Yes, Southern Nazarene University accreditation requires that we receive an official transcript from every institution that you have attended.
