Military Scholarships for 2019

Military Child of the Year Award

Amount: $10,000

Recipient: Military Children
Outstanding military children who demonstrate leadership, resiliency and achievement in their communities will be selected. Candidate must be the legal dependent child of a service member.

MG James Ursano Scholarship Fund

Deadline: January 1, 2019
Children of Army soldiers who are obtaining their undergraduate degree are eligible to apply.  Scholarships are renewable.

Iraq and Afghanistan Service Grant

Amount: Varies
Deadline: January 1, 2019
Recipient: Dependents
Students with a parent or guardian who served as a member of the U.S. armed forces and died as a result of military service performed in Iraq or Afghanistan after the events of 9/11 are eligible.

Special Operations Warrior Foundation College Scholarship

Deadline: January 1, 2019
Recipient: Dependents
Surviving children of fallen Special Operations Forces are eligible for scholarships. Funds can be used for colleges, universities, vocational, technical and career institutions.

Army Engineer Memorial Awards

Amount: $2,000
Deadline: January 1, 2019
Recipient: HS senior dependents
High school seniors whose parent, sponsor or legal guardian is a U.S. Army Engineer (active duty, retired or deceased), National Guard U.S. Army Engineer, Reserve U. S. Army Engineer, or current department of the Army employee of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), as well as a current member of the Army Engineer Spouses Club may apply.

That Others May Live Scholarships

Scholarships are available to assist families of U.S. Air Force Rescue Heros who were killed or severely wounded in training or operational missions.

Patrick M. Hughes, Lieutenant General, U.S. Army, Retired Inspiration Scholarship

Veterans pursuing higher education are eligible to apply for this scholarship that honors Lieutenant General Hughes and his contribution to the national security career field.

Ranger Memorial Foundation Scholarship Fund

Recipient: Army Rangers and families
U.S. Army Rangers and their families are eligible for scholarships for higher education. A GPA of 3.0 or higher is required.

All applicants for the Empowered Future Teachers Scholarship must meet all of the following eligibility requirements to apply:

  • Must be pursuing a career as a preschool-5th grade teacher (any discipline).
  • Must be enrolled at an accredited 2-year, 4-year, technical/vocational college, or university in the United States.
  • Must be a college undergraduate, graduate student, or professional student
  • Must be pursuing an Education-related degree such as:  Child Development, Early/Elementary/Middle Childhood Education, Special Education, Bachelor’s in Education, Master’s in Education, Doctorate in Education, Master of Arts in Teaching. (Students who are minoring in Education or students who have already earned a degree in Education and are currently pursuing a degree in another discipline are also eligible to apply.)
  • Must be a United States citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • Open to students from all states.
  • Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
  • Finalists will be asked to provide a letter of recommendation from an academic reference, ideally a member of faculty in the applicant’s current educational institution, who can comment on the applicant’s abilities and interest in pursuing a career in Education.
  • If selected, you must provide an official transcript for GPA and enrollment verification.

NAVPA Scholarship Application

Each applicant must meet ALL of the following eligibility requirements.

  • Currently attend a NAVPA member institution. Please refer to http://navpa.org/member-institutions-by-state/ for a list of member institutions or ask your School Veterans Administrator.
  • Be a U.S. citizen or eligible U.S. permanent resident.
  • Be an Honorably Discharged U.S. Military Veteran, Active Duty, Reserve or Guard member, or a Dependent of Veteran or Service member.
  • Be in good academic standing with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Complete prerequisite essay, not to exceed two pages. “How the NAVPA Scholarship will help me achieve my goals”
  • Be enrolled in and maintain attendance at full-time rate at a NAVPA member approved college or university during the fall 2018 semester/quarter.
  • Have earned a minimum of 12 college credit hours by the end of the fall 2018 semester/quarter. For alternative certification/post-baccalaureate program applicants, credits may be from their bachelor’s degree program course of study.

National Military Family Association:Military Spouse Scholarships

Details:You are eligible to apply for a spouse scholarship if you are a spouse of a member of the seven Uniformed Services with a valid military ID, are married to an active duty, reserve, guard, retired, medically retired, wounded or fallen service member (must be a service-related wound, illness, injury or death that took place after September 11, 2001)are a dual service military spouse are a divorced spouse, but ONLY if you receive 20/20/20 benefits are married when we ask for verification paperwork, usually a month after the applications close. 

North American Van Lines Military Logistics Scholarship
