The Department of Psychology and Counseling annually selects a limited number of students who are awarded departmental scholarships.

Coburn, Thurman E. Scholarship

  • Established and funded by Dr. Thurman Coburn
  • Provides aid to full-time Senior psychology majors with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • Recipients shall display potential for success as well as Christian character and ideals
  • Amount varies

Ladd-Karns Family Memorial Scholarship

  • Established and funded by Dr. & Mrs. Forrest Ladd, and Mr. & Mrs. Don Cornwell, daughters, and their spouses
  • Provides funds for a psychology major who possesses the ability and aspires to be a psychologist – one who has displayed commendable achievements both academically and non-academically
  • $300 minimum increments

Stasser, Dr. Dorothy Scholarship

  • Established and funded by friends and former students of Dr. Dorothy Stasser
  • Restricted to upper-division students completing a degree in Psychology
  • Applicant must have an expressed career interest in academic and/or research psychology
  • Verifiable financial need
  • Amount varies

Straley, Marci Memorial Scholarship

  • Established and funded by Dan & Joy Straley, parents
  • Provides a grant to an upper-division psychology major with a minimum 3.0 GPA who exemplifies SNU's motto of "Character-Culture-Christ"
  • Amount varies
